Anxiety Therapy for Adults in Arizona
Anxiety looks different for everyone. For some it's constant worry that never fully quiets down. For others it's physical tension, avoidance, or a nagging sense that something is wrong even when everything looks fine on the outside. However it shows up for you, anxiety has a way of making life feel and harder than it needs to be.
You Don't Have to Stay Stuck in the Worry Loop
Anxiety isn't a character flaw or a sign that you're weak. It's often a learned response — shaped by your history, your relationships, and the ways you've had to adapt to the world around you.
In therapy, we work to understand not just the anxiety itself, but where it comes from and what it's been trying to protect you from. That deeper understanding is what makes change last — not just managing symptoms, but actually shifting the patterns beneath them.
Anxiety doesn't always look like panic attacks or obvious fear. In adults, it often shows up as:
Racing or intrusive thoughts that are hard to shut off
Difficulty relaxing, even when nothing is obviously wrong
Overthinking decisions or replaying conversations
People-pleasing or difficulty setting boundaries
Avoiding situations that feel uncomfortable or uncertain
Physical symptoms like tension headaches, a tight chest, or an unsettled stomach
Trouble sleeping
What Anxiety Can Look Like
How I Work With Anxiety
My approach to anxiety is grounded in psychodynamic therapy — which means we look beneath the surface to understand the emotional experiences and relational patterns that fuel your anxiety. When it's helpful, I also give you practical strategies alongside that deeper work. We may work on learning skills to calm your body such as using grounding techniques.
The goal isn't to eliminate anxiety entirely — some anxiety is useful and human. The goal is to help you build a different relationship with it, so it no longer runs the show.
You're in the Right Place If:
You've felt anxious for as long as you can remember and you're ready to understand why
You're managing on the outside but exhausted on the inside
Anxiety is affecting your sleep, your relationships, or your ability to enjoy your life
You've tried to push through it on your own and it keeps coming back
You're ready to do more than just cope — you want real, lasting change
